Mee Soto

My aunt from London had a little visit to Singapore to meet my grandad. My grandad still hadn't recover fully yet and his operation scar is still giving him d pain. I really hope he'll be ok. My aunt transit to Singapore for a day cause she had work to be done in Australia. She need to do a presentation on a research she did with her husband. Ah yes.. they're both pharmacologist. I can't get to meet her though and I missed seing my cousin Jasmine. Boy, she should be big from the last time I saw her. However aunt did gave me a special somthing for me.. She really knew what I like..

Today, accompanied my lil sis to the bank. Did some transactions there and off we go to shop. I did some last min shopping and wen I get back home, a major task awaits me. I had to do cooking today coz my parent had some work to do and will be home late. So I decided to try my luck and cook Mee Soto. It's a complex dish but sooner or later I need to master it. This is my first attempt and I don't know how its going to be.

Start the cooking at 4pm with getting the paste for the soup ready. It was tough in gauging cause I need to cook a big pot and not only serve for a 2 person meal (which d recipe book state so). So I did my own recipe and put everything together. I'm excited to see the soup really looks like a Mee Soto soup though the taste was not yet confirmed but I juz hope it will taste nice too.

I had an accident in d kitchen..haha. While crushing the green chille for the sambal, it stung my eyes and it feels like my eyes is burning. I panicked cause I'm wearing contact lens and I tried to take it out but I can't find it. Luckily my sis, saw my contact lens which has dropped onto d floor. I guess it slips away. It was pain beyond pain. After 10 mins, I started to feel ok but only after washing my face several times. Lesson learnt: Wear specs and face another direction when crushing green chille..haha!

As I'm cooking, my sisters help me out. Yes the chef has her assistants too :-P I ask my 2nd sis to peel the potato for me to make the bagedils. I'm very impressed cause the bagedil look so yummy and they're indeed yummilicious!!

Then it comes to the judging time.haha. When, we break our fast, I was nervous cause I dun noe how d taste is like and whether it really taste like Mee Soto. Dad fill his plate to the brim and with lots of chille added too. Grandma thought that mum bought the Mee Soto from a shop cause it taste delicious. Haha..alhamdulillah. I passed cooking Mee Soto. Even mum gave me an 8 out of 10 cause she said I can improved on doing better next time if not I'll stop trying and be on that level only. Yay!

Oh.. and Dad really finishes his Mee Soto. Juz look at his plate..

What shall I cook for tomorrow?? Hmm..
